DMV rules and regulations in California

DMV rules and regulations in California requires the DMV to work on regulations to cover testing and public use of autonomous vehicles. California's DMV took pains in its announcement to highlight that it wasn't trying to overstep the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Property Risk Management in California, cheap, easy, fast, affordable

Here are some DMV rules and regulations in California:

  • California Distracted Driving & Cellphone Usage Laws

We have all been there: we are driving, and suddenly our mobile phone rings. Sometimes its hard to resist the temptation and not answer it, but there are laws prohibiting the usage of cell phones while driving in California unless they are used in hands-free mode.

  • California Neon Underglow Lights Laws

Most states do restrict the color or luminosity or neon lights attached to the car, among other things. For neon under glow, most of these laws are found under Unlawful vehicle modifications and Lighting requirements. In the state of California (CA), neon under glow lights are legal to use, though there are some restrictions of course.

  • California Windshield Sticker Laws

Sticker usage is most commonly seen on company cars looking to advertise their brand or product on official vehicles, and street-racers and similar car enthusiasts who enjoy aftermarket tuning of their cars. The placement and size of windshield stickers are regulated by laws in California, so be sure to read the following excerpt pertaining to their use.

  • California License Plates Disbursement Laws

The DMV issues 2 reflector license plates per motor vehicle registered, except for motorcycles, and 1 license plate for all other vehicles (trailers, semitrailers, etc.) required to be registered.

  • California Vehicle TV Laws

In state of California Using TV screens in cars while driving is allowed as long as the screen is not visible to the driver.

  • California Seat Belt Laws

In the state of California the driver and all passengers in private vehicles must be fastened with seat belts at all times. Exceptions include passengers in taxi vehicles, where only persons driving in front seats must be buckled up with seat belts. Child seat belt laws in California state that all children under the age of 8 must use a child safety seat or booster.

  • California Speed Limit Laws

Always watch out for local speed limit traffic signs! Every county or road can have different regulations, so always keep an eye on traffic signs with posted speed limits which supersede these general rules. Excessive speeds may get you in other legal trouble based on Street Racing Laws or Reckless Driving Laws.
